DIY Hybrid Cars
DIY hybrid cars are becoming quite the rage what with continuing high gas prices. As of Memorial Day, 2008 most cities report average gasoline prices near $4 a gallon. One can only imagine what price gasoline may reach by the end of the summer.
With a DIY hybrid you can drastically increase your gas mileage. By using one of the many conversion kits available on the internet you can actually convert to run a car on water and gasoline. Hybrid cars are cars that use a second energy source…usually electricity or HHO, a gas made through the process of electrolysis. Some experimentation has been made with golf cart type cars that use six to ten batteries for power. The problem with this type of hybrid is low life cycle between charges. They may be great for a trip of three or four blocks, but useless for long range trips.
A much better idea is the use of HHO to power your car. The conversion kit is a simple do it yourself concept. You’ll have to get the plans or blueprints off the internet, but don’t worry. Their popularity makes them easy to find. Cost for the plans will run from around $50 to $100. Most of the plans offer good technical support should you run into difficulties following the blueprints. The necessary parts are available at any hardware or auto parts store for another $50 or so. For under $100 you can have your own hybrid car!
A couple of notes here. The conversion kits are safe for virtually all cars and trucks. Installing one will NOT void your car’s warranty. Expect a 20 to 50% increase in mileage. If that savings is not enough you may also qualify of up to $2000 in tax refunds for going “green”.
If you are curious, but still a little leary, try one on an older model car first. Be ready for quite a shock as your older car may just run cleaner and even a bit quieter with these fantastic conversion kits.
